Dig In
Fall’s Fixation-Inspiring Fashions

Temperatures are gradually dropping, and the onset of fall is no longer something yearned for on a disgustingly steamy 100-degree day -- it’s officially arrived.  A new season means a new wardrobe -- so we thought it the perfect time to reflect on the goods we can’t get enough of.  Without further ado, psychoPEDIA’s Most Wanted list for fall:

Ladies:

Pleasure Principle Skeleton Hooded Sweatshirt ($195)
Diva Pittala and Adrian Cowen, both NYC-based, are the head hedonists behind this four-year-old line.  The unadventurous and faint-of-heart, beware.  Pleasure Principle has no qualms about laying topics of excess and indulgence on the table: their current collection of T-shirts and sweatshirts are covered in graphic images of mushrooms, skeletons and clowns (reproductions of LSD blotters originally issued in 1981).

Yarborough’s Wool Cuffs ($30-$95)
Fall fashion gets functional with Elizabeth Yarborough’s three-week-old line of wool-wrapped bracelets.  Not only are these cuffs stylish, as the cold weather kicks in, they’ll keep you toasty.  Choose from cashmere, Donegal tweed, angora, mohair and alpaca.

Iron Army Grey Overalls ($242)
Farm-hand chic meets punk princess with this particularly becoming pair of overalls.  Just thank Iron Army’s Steve & Steve -- Angelenos by way of Alberta, Canada -- for this skinny-jean alternative.

Karen Walker Pendants (Axe, $108, and Dagger, $148)
The New Zealand queen of quirk, designer Karen Walker continues to excite with her daring, yet delicate namesake jewelry line.  Whether it’s an addition to your Jack the Ripper costume, or another way to accessorize your jeans and T-shirt, her silver necklaces embellished with dagger and ax charms are not to be missed.

Gentlemen:

Band of Outsiders Silk Satin Bow Tie ($115)
If the name doesn’t grab your attention, the super slim tailoring will.  And in perfect dandy fashion, LA-based Band of Outsiders offers a range of bowties.  As was made clear on the recent runways (Thom Brown and Viktor &  Rolf included), the tie and ascot alternative is an essential this season, and Band of Outsiders’ silk/satin variation is one of our favorites.

Oliver Peoples’ Crystal Ari Glasses ($200; additional cost for lenses):
Now that Ray Ban’s classic wayfarers have officially entered ubiquity, an eyewear evolution is imminent.  And Oliver Peoples’ hard-to-find, but available-upon-request, Crystal glasses more than fit the bill.  They’re perfectly retro in shape and style, discreet, and you can garnish them with any color lenses you’d like.  (Blue and red, anyone?)

Common Projects’ Achilles Model 1825 ($275)
When it comes to tasteful minimalism, a good sneaker is hard to find.  Unless you’re talking about Common Projects – a NYC-based, Italian-made shoe line that launched less than a year ago.  Known for simple, sleek, monochrome leather low-tops and high-tops, Common Projects has introduced another style: The Achilles Model 1529 (all CP sneakers are stamped on the heels with a golden serial number) in leather and suede is as good as it gets.  Their similarly appealing website launches later this week.

E Vogel’s Custom Shoes ($295 and up)
Whether you’re in the market for oxfords, riding boots or jodhpurs, E Vogel offers customizable leather kicks that are as authentic as it gets.  Their classic styles and top-of-the-line  craftsmanship make them the perfect fallback.  Kudos to anyone who can work a 3-Strap boot on a city street.
