NYC Au Revoir Simone

Just past 8pm on a Monday, a single-file line of eager ears (including Mike Myers’ pair, covered by a characteristic hunting cap) traipsed into Manhattan indie-record shop heaven, Other Music.  They surrounded the stage, where a trio of distinctively endearing girls – Annie, Erika and Heather, also known as Brooklyn-based Au Revoir Simone - spurned scintillating electro-pop for just under an hour.  The performance was particularly raw (perhaps a product of malfunctioning equipment, or the atypical venue).  Yet, the girls held their own, proving tracks like Stay Golden, off their debut, self-titled LP, and Sad Song, from their not-yet-released The Bird of Music, will stick in your head like bubble gum -- the really tasty, big-bubble-blowing, never-leave-home-without-it kind.
