D2D White Rabbits Brooklyn

The buzz on White Rabbits is escalating into a roar, so when we saw they were playing Union Hall we happily trekked out to Park Slope. Self-described as 'Honky-Tonk Calypso,' we’d say the Cold War Kids should watch their back... and their fronts, as this 6-piece is set to leave them in the dust. With anywhere from 2-4 members on percussion during any given song, the backbeat boosts the minor melodies into a crowd-whipping frenzy. Equally impressive is their energy, which translates effortlessly from live to recorded tracks.

Lead vox are traded off, keys are pounded, and everyone grabs a tambourine at some point. 'The Plot' will get you clapping along before you know what's happening, and howling has never sounded so appealing as with 'Kid on My Shoulders.' To break their sound down stylistically would be like attempting to dismantle an atomic bomb; but we guarantee at the end of the show you'll find yourself catching your breath, sweaty and disoriented, but damn sure you had a good time.

The inside scoop: These guys have been tapped to share the bill w/ Peter Bjorn and John for their impossibly sold-out shows -- and some highly-anticipated showcases at SXSW. Keep an ear peeled for the album, set to drop this spring on the Say Hey label.
