NYC Sugar Report

New York City’s illustrious hotspot, Hiro, located beneath the Maritime Hotel, seems to always detect great up-and-coming bands -- so it’s no surprise The Sugar Report was asked to play their weekly Thursday party, thrown by the GHB and Cheeky Bastard crew. Band members Curtis Williams (vocal/guitar), Joe Zdaa (drums), Terence David (guitar) and Scott Meyer (bass), performed to a packed house of fans all dressed similarly -- sleek all-black ensembles, a skinny tie here and there, and coif haircuts only band dudes can rock. Aesthetics aside, the real reason to see them is to hear ‘em. Drop-dead sonics that make ya feel the Edge from U2 already came back for a second reincarnation; reminiscent of Boy and War. After their first song, “Dear Friends & Enemies”, they launched into two new back-to-back tracks, “Via Lax”, and “Long Hard Nights”, neither of which is on their EP, and yet another reason not to miss any of their upcoming shows.
